Scandinavian heavyweight hopeful Robert Helenius (7-0, 3 KOs) will face the biggest test of his career when he takes on Scott “The Hammer” Gammer on the undercard of the hotly-anticipated WBA heavyweight title fight between Nikolai Valuev and Ruslan Chagaev. The “Nordic Nightmare” confirmed his great shape with a spectacular second-round TKO victory over Ozcan Cetankaya last weekend, dusting his opponent with a huge right uppercut in the first and then again with a big right in the second. Helenius, a silver-medallist at the 2006 European Amateur Championships, is now looking forward to a “tough challenge” at Hartwall Arena on May 30. “I am thrilled to be fighting in front of my home fans,” said the 25-year-old, who was born in Sweden and raised in Finland. “Gammer is a difficult opponent but I will defeat him. I want to show the Scandinavian public what I have learned during the one year with Sauerland Event.”

Gammer (18-3, 9 KOs) is well-known not only in Great Britain but all over Europe. He came close to winning the EU heavyweight title last August but a hand injury forced him to retire in the eighth round against Francesco Pianeta. “Gammer is certainly the most difficult opponent Robert has ever been in the ring with,” Sauerland Event sports director Hagen Doering said. “But we have been very pleased with his development, so it is time to take the next step. With the support of his home fans, he will definitely beat Gammer. Robert is a potential champion and he will prove that in Helsinki on May 30.”
