Coach speaks about the progress of the young Super-Middleweight

Tyron Zeuge has been part of Karsten Röwers training group for a few months now. The super-middleweight gave his debut in Kiel, Germany at the end of March. Four months after his first outing as a professional boxer his coach reflects on the progress made by the Berlin native since joining his gym.

Zeuge has made a good impression on Röwer. "During this short period of time, Tyron has developed a lot," said Röwer. "He especially improved in the athletic and stamina department."  But the coach, who trained former middleweight champion Sebastian Sylvester, is not surprised by the ability of the young boxer. "He showed how talented he is as an amateur. He was right up there with the best."

So far, Zeuge has two fights under his belt as a professional, ending both of them early. Especially his second outing, a fight against Santo Drago from Hungary in Erfurt, Germany on May 5, was a good win. "Tyron was a bit too excited to begin with and tried to end the fight after just one round," according to the coach. "After that didn't happen he suddenly realised that three minutes is a long time and he had to be careful not to run out of energy. But by knocking out Drago in round three, he proved that he is capable of doing so."

There is one characteristic of the 20-year-old that Röwer is very excited about. "He is just really easy going with everything and doesn't let anything or anyone distract him." Of course there are also areas which need to be improved. "We have to work on his consistency and make it clear to him, that boxing is hard work and just being talented is not enough."

At the gym his teammates have given him the nickname "Popeye". "We really put him through his paces during his first session with us. Afterwards, he was standing in front of the mirror posing and flexing his arms," remembers Röwer. "The next day he came to training with the cartoon figure "Popeye" on his shirt and his nickname was born."

It seems like the young boxer from Berlin has a bright future ahead of him. Röwer is very confident, that the German box fans will have a lot of joy with Tyron Zeuge.
