Abraham: Coming weeks very important

Arthur Abraham's (34-3, 27 KOs) preparation is heating up. The prodigy of Coach Ulli Wegner is taking on the current WBO Super-Middleweight Champion Robert Stieglitz (42-2, 23 KOs) at the o2 World of Berlin on August 25.

No stone will be left unturned by Abraham's team to ensure that his highly anticipated title challenge will be a success. Now the WBO number one ranked boxer and his trainer started their training camp in Zinnowitz, Germany. The Island of Usedom, on the coas of the Baltic Sea, will be home to the former IBF Middleweight Champion for the next three weeks while he is getting in shape for his world title shot.

"These coming weeks are very important," said Abraham. The preparations will focus on two different aspects. "We will be working a lot on my stamina and my boxing abilities. It is important to begin with the preparations at such an early stage as it might have a negative effect come August 25 if I didn't."

And Usedom has the perfect surroundings. "For example I can do my running right next to the beach which makes it much more fun," according to Abraham. But there are many more advantages to training in Zinnowitz. "The air is extremely fresh you - can feel it with every breath you take. My whole focus is on my preparation. There is nothing here to distract me."

To make sure that Abraham does not get bored, coach Wegner has packed his training schedule. "We have many different sessions on a daily basis. I never get bored while I am out here."

August 25 will show if all the effort Abraham has put in will pay off. A victory over Stieglitz would give the 32-year-old the first world title as a super-middleweight boxer.
